Author Guidelines

Guidelines for manuscript preparation and submission to the Journal of Data Science and Informatics Engineering (JoDSIE).

General Requirements

JoDSIE welcomes original research articles within the scope of data science, informatics engineering, computer science, information systems, and related fields. Manuscripts may be prepared in Indonesian or English, following the journal template and editorial requirements.

Authors are required to use the official JoDSIE manuscript template and must not modify the prescribed page margins. The manuscript should be prepared in A4 paper size with Times New Roman, 10-point font for the main content.

Manuscript Specifications

LENGTH

10–15 Pages

Manuscripts should contain a minimum of 10 pages and a maximum of 15 pages on A4 paper.

PAPER SIZE

A4

Authors must use A4 paper size and preserve the margins specified in the official JoDSIE template.

TYPOGRAPHY

Times New Roman

Main manuscript content uses Times New Roman, 10 point, according to the journal template.

AUTHORS

Maximum 5 Authors

The template provides space for a maximum of five authors, with the corresponding author clearly identified.

1. Title and Author Information

  • The manuscript title should be concise, informative, and directly represent the research.
  • The title should contain a maximum of 14 words.
  • Provide the full names of all authors.
  • A maximum of five authors is provided in the template.
  • Clearly identify the corresponding author.
  • Provide faculty, study program, institutional affiliation, city, country, and author email addresses.
  • Provide the corresponding author's email address clearly.

2. Abstract and Keywords

The abstract must contain a maximum of 200 words. It should be clear, descriptive, and provide a concise overview of the research.

The abstract should, at minimum, describe the research background, scientific or knowledge gap, proposed method, principal research results, and practical or scientific implications.

The abstract should end with the importance of the findings or a concise conclusion. The conclusion should describe findings that have been obtained rather than expected future results.

Keywords: Provide 3–5 keywords that represent the main concepts of the manuscript.

Do not include citations, tables, or figures in the abstract.

3. Article Structure

3.1 Introduction

The Introduction should explain the research background, problem, related issues, relevant previous studies, scientific or knowledge gap, uniqueness of the study, differences from previous research, and the contribution and position of the research.

3.2 Research Methods

Describe the research methodology, analysis, research architecture, methods or algorithms used, implementation, formulas, procedures, and stages for solving the research problem in sufficient detail.

Figures and diagrams may be used to support the explanation of the research methodology.

3.3 Results and Discussion

Present research findings and testing results using appropriate qualitative and quantitative explanations. Experimental results should be supported by appropriate graphs, tables, figures, statistical results, or other relevant evidence.

Every graph and figure should be explained or explicitly referenced in the manuscript.

3.4 Conclusion

The conclusion should clearly state the research findings, strengths, limitations, and potential development or future research. Where appropriate, conclusions should include numerical, percentage, or other relevant evidence derived from the research.

3.5 Acknowledgment

This section is optional. Authors may acknowledge research sponsors, funding agencies, institutions, or other parties that provided substantial support for the research.

4. Subsections and Numbering

Subsections should use Arabic numerical numbering, for example 2.1 Research Procedure, 2.2 Figures and Tables, 2.3 Mathematical Formulas, and 2.4 Citation.

5. Figures and Tables

  • Figures and tables should use the In Line with Text layout.
  • Figures and tables should fit the prescribed one-column layout or the appropriate full-page width according to the template.
  • All figures and tables must have sequential numbering.
  • Use descriptive captions for all figures and tables.
  • Figures should be sufficiently clear and readable; the template recommends high-resolution images of approximately 300 px.
  • Do not use screenshots or captured tables from other objects as substitutes for editable, clear tables.
  • Tables should follow the formatting demonstrated in the official JoDSIE template.
  • Figures and tables must be discussed or referenced in the manuscript text.

6. Mathematical Formulas

Mathematical formulas should be prepared using Microsoft Equation Editor or MathType. Equations should be centered and numbered consecutively, beginning with (1), (2), and so forth.

7. Citation and References

JoDSIE uses a numeric citation system based on IEEE style. Citations should be numbered according to their first appearance in the manuscript, for example [1], [1,2], or [1,2,3].

  • The first cited source must appear as reference [1].
  • The second cited source must appear as reference [2].
  • References must be ordered according to citation appearance, not alphabetically by author's surname.
  • Every cited source must appear in the References section.
  • Every reference listed should be cited in the manuscript.
  • The References section should contain only sources actually cited in the manuscript.

8. Reference Requirements

  • Include at least 15 recent journal articles.
  • The main references should preferably consist of relevant international journals and conference proceedings.
  • Recent references from approximately the last five years should be prioritized.
  • References must be relevant and directly support the research discussion.
  • Include the DOI of an article where a DOI is available.
  • Reference information must be accurate and verifiable.
  • References should consistently follow the required IEEE/numeric format.

9. Submission and Review

  1. Authors submit manuscripts electronically through the JoDSIE journal website.
  2. Authors without an account should register first and select the Author role.
  3. After registration, authors may log in and initiate a New Submission.
  4. Submitted manuscripts undergo editorial screening, including similarity/plagiarism checking.
  5. Manuscripts that pass the initial screening may proceed to peer review.
  6. The template indicates an expected reviewer process of approximately 1–2 months.
  7. Editorial decisions may include acceptance, revision, or rejection.
  8. Where revision is required, authors should submit the revised manuscript within the period specified by the editorial office; the template specifies up to 2 weeks.

10. Originality and Ethical Responsibility

Authors are responsible for ensuring that submitted manuscripts are original and appropriately acknowledge all sources used in the research.

Authors should also comply with applicable research ethics, authorship requirements, conflict-of-interest disclosure, funding disclosure, copyright requirements, and other publication-ethics policies of JoDSIE.

11. Official Journal Template

Authors are strongly encouraged to prepare manuscripts using the official JoDSIE 2026 template. The template contains the required formatting for the article title, author information, abstract, headings, figures, tables, equations, citations, references, and page layout.

Authors must not change the prescribed margins of the official template.
